My first knowledge of the amazing auroral display, witnessed by so many around the world on Monday night, came from the Monday Night Lights: October Aurorae Surprise Skywatchers post over at the Lights in the Dark blog. Hi Lisa. Nice to see you here again! Since I don’t go out much anyway, there was no way for me to even know it was happening. In my case though, I’m sure the city lights would’ve made it impossible anyway. The local news did show some nice images taken out in the boonies by other viewers though… 😀

I would really love to see the Northern Lights sometime. They were visible is Oklahoma this time; lived there all my life and never saw them. I think there were parts of Colorado that saw them early Tuesday morning, but we didn’t get any advance warning. Oh well, I trust I’ve seen something somewhere that someone else always wanted to see and never has.

Great videos. I once lived very far north – near the Arctic Circle and the aurora borealis was an amazing light show. I had no idea they could be seen so far south. Thanks for this collection — it’s a cool one.

Hi TT! I’d love to be able to see auroras on a regular basis, but I have this really bad allergy to freezing my butt off. We may all be able to see them more than we want, however, if what they say at How To Survive 2012 is true! 😆
