What’s My Motivation?

The title to this post is from a recurring joke in my internal dialog, originating from some long-forgotten line in a movie about acting. In case you haven’t noticed, a major underlying theme of this blog is my confusion about (and outright resentment towards) the stupid roles we’re all forced to play in order to “fit in” with those around us.

Reflections On A Lasting Peace…

A friend of mine shared the following video on Facebook, which does a fairly good job of outlining the history behind the Israeli / Palestinian conflict. The problem with this video is that the history it outlines only goes back to the conclusion of World War II, and thus, I think, paints a picture that is not entirely accurate…

A Little Tuesday Wisdom…

I don’t have a lot of words for you today my friends. My need for air conditioning to fight the heat has just aggravated my arthritis so much, and I’m afraid my back just can’t handle more than a few minutes hunched over my keyboard.

But I do want to share this very nice video my friend Rosie posted on Facebook, and this collection of random “reflections” from around the net…

Friday Foolishness – The Interview…

In case you hadn’t heard, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un threatened yet another ‘Merciless’ attack against the U.S. a couple of days ago – this time in ‘retaliation’ over the pending release of a movie. At the time, I thought the news was certainly worthy of a chuckle, a ‘WTF?’ and one of those ‘Good Grief’ eye-rolls. But then, that was two days ago, and, in a world chock full of things that inspire me to respond that way, the story simply faded into the background noise.

That is, until I saw George Takei’s post about it on Facebook. OMG – the responses he got were just hilarious! Here’s just a sampling of the images people included with their comments…

A Little Lesson In Manners…

I couldn’t help laughing when my daughter-in-law shared this on Facebook this morning. I felt a little guilty afterwards because I can’t imagine myself doing what this guy did. On the other hand, the kid was being a monstrous little shit…

Agreeing To Disagree?

Oh dear. As is a habit I find hard to resist, I posted the following image to Facebook the other day. To which my nephew, the minister, couldn’t resist going off on a rant about. First claiming that, without Jesus, Dr. Convit wouldn’t have had the abilities he had, and then going on to claim that “Jesus is the reason for hospitals, universities, and the printing press.” He then posed the question “Why is it so easy to embrace resentment, anger, hostility, superstition, occult, and aliens, and yet we have such a hard time with people who live by love?” WTF?!?!

This Lady’s Got Skillz!

My friend Rosie posted the following video to my Facebook timeline, along with this intriguing statement:

Knowing you know and love music as I …..thought I would share this with you…..what talent and zest for life…..she has played with the best…
