This you must see to believe! I found this amazing video over on Universe Today, and it features the launch of something called a girandola…
Apparently “girandolas are [indeed] high precision, finely tuned instruments.” 😀

Tell me, after seeing that, am I the only one who was reminded of these song lyrics? 😉
Oh the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin’
I don’t’ know where I’ll be tomorrow
Ooo the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin’
I don’t’ know where I’ll be tomorrow
Ooo the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin’
I want ice water.
More from the Visual Treats volume
Just what I needed IzaakMak… Definitely uplifting! And I watched it twice.. Have a great weekend my friend.. Glad to be back.. xxx

Thanks Alex. The chute deployment was a surprise, but then so was the rest! 😀

Damn that’s cool. Of course, it either works perfectly or it kills someone …

You know PT, I was kinda wondering why those last people took such a long time to get clear before the launch. Then, seeing how long the thing kept spinning and rising, and taking a guess as to how much ‘fuel’ that required, I became even more shocked at their nerve!

It kept going about twice as high as I thought it would. Lots of fuel on that thing. I’d want some sort of remote firing/launching system, but it all looked too primitive for anything like that.

Considering the engineering required to make it fly, a remote firing/launching system does seem appropriate. The simultaneous lighting of fuses by human hands did, however, lead me to have grossly lowered expectations, which, in turn, led to my being totally awe-shocked by the actual flight! 😀

Especially when there were only a couple of guys left by the wheel, I thought for sure it was going to go up lopsided and just flip over.

I was definitely hearing the theme from Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines when it began!

That’s good too. But I like Wheel in the Sky better.
