Brrrrr! We set a new record low temperature here overnight. Officially, they’re saying it got down to -11, but the weather thingy in my browser was showing -14 at 3:30am, just before I decided to crawl under my blankets. At any rate, I was inspired by the following image, a copy of which was posted over on Tacky Raccoons…
To trace it back to its original source, where I also found these incredible images…
Today the Department of Awesome Natural Phenomena shares a stunning series of photos taken by Slovenian extreme weather photographer Marko Korosec. Korosec found this utterly enchanting and otherworldly scene at a ski resort on Mount Javornik, part of a mountain range in eastern Slovenia. These spectacular ice formations are the result of an extended period of brutal winter weather that left the entire landscape encased in layers of wind-sculpted ice.

I guess that just goes to show that, no matter how badly she seems to be treating me, I’ve yet to experience Mother Nature truly at her worst. Which, of course, reminds me of a song…
I want ice water.

Call me a dickhead, but I never liked “Foreigner.” Rock wasn’t intended to sound whiny.

Really? What rock music have you been listening to? 😉

Anything but ’70s pop metal rock with a few exceptions. If I had to pick only one band, it would be one led by Frank Zappa (post Mothers) not for the dopey sophomoric humor, but for the music. “Black Napkins” is one of my favorites, and his 3-album set “Shut Up And Play Your Guitar” is killer.
These days Scott Bradlee’s PostModern Jukebox amuses me.

I was once up in Greenland in the winter during a White Out. Never thought I would be that cold again. I am grateful I am not in the colder parts of the US right now. I found some fabulous X-rated snow sculptures on the net recently, loved them but have nowhere to post them.

I’ve been in some cold places and in some bad storms Val, but Greenland in the winter during a White Out? Oh hell no, you can have that!
I’d love to see those X-rated snow sculptures my friend. I’ve got a Tumblr blog where I post anything that makes my jaw drop – most of which I wouldn’t dream of posting here! 😉
