Where Do We Draw The Line is a song from the 2008 album, Revolution Roulette, by Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall. I heard both the song, and the band, for the very first time when fellow blogger Poietes concluded her very powerful “… how the gravity of Nature and the silence startle you, when you stand face to face with her, undistracted, before a barren ridge” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe post with it on Tuesday.
I simply haven’t been able to get it out of my head since…
Lines that speak the truth without a sound
In your eyes awaits the tireless hunger
Already looks for prey to run down
So why do we keep up this charade,
and how do we tell apart the time to leave from the time to wait?
before it all falls apart, before our love becomes insatiate?
What does tomorrow want from me?
What does it matter what I see?
If I can’t choose my own design,
Tell me where do we draw the line?
What does tomorrow want from me?
What does it matter what I see?
If we all walk behind the blind,
Tell me where do we draw the line,
Tell me where do we draw the line?

I mean, seriously, is there a better testament to the state of our world today?
BTW, if you’re a fan of the TV series Supernatural, there’s another really good video for this song that features footage of the back-story behind that series. Of course, one could argue that our persistent belief in things like the supernatural is why our world seems so much like Hell in the first place.
Just sayin, at least that’s where my line is drawn…
I want ice water.

I-man, thanks for the props!

Nah, the gravatar is merely a reflection of my inability to fit in. For ‘cool historical documents,’ I’ll go with the image on https://iwanticewater.wordpress.com/2008/11/20/if-you-really-must-know/ 🙂

What a lovely bloke that is ! – I would be so happy to have him for a friend, and give him a huge every time we met !
Izaak Mak, you are a fraud. A FRAUD, do you hear ? I cannot believe that anyone who looks like that cannot fit in …

Aw shucks ma’am, now you done gone and made me blush!
If only my social skills matched up with my purported ‘loveliness!’

I don’t mean ‘lovely’ as in a dame in a ballgown or whatever. You know that.

Oh I know M-R. I was just making fun of myself for being both ‘not ugly’ AND ‘not stupid.’ That just killed ALL my chances to be popular! 😉

Love it. Did you ever see “Rooster Cogburn” ? – I adored Strother Martin in that …
And I doubt you and I would have a failure to communicate that led to such brutal consequences ! [grin]

Strother Martin was just awesome in everything I saw him in M-R! To be honest, I do have a hard time ‘decoding’ some of your ‘down under’ lingo but, whatever the meaning, I always know that it’s coming from a lady with a great heart! 😀

Don’t you dare! My confusion is easily cleared up with a quick search. Besides, I’m fascinated by colloquialisms. I just usually catch on a little quicker than I have with you. And that is certainly not your fault! 😳

As my “The LowDown” box says, “I Want Ice Water is a mixture of humor & seriousness that reflects my own personal philosophy of life.” My attempt at being a ‘Jack Of All Trades’ may not be working as well as I’d hoped, but I’m like those old Avis Car Rental ads: I Try Harder! 😉

Yeah, I noticed that. I so want to tease you for the mistake but, after doing this post and catching up on your stuff (many of which I shared on Tumblr), my back is just hurting too bad to think of a good one. Perhaps a ding-a-ling sub for sing-along?

It really is a good one. Spotify was kinda limited on them, but YouTube is just chock full! 😀
