A Hump Day Geekfest – John Oliver and Stephen Hawking

I’ve been a big fan of John Oliver since he was cast member on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. And what self respecting geek doesn’t like Stephen Hawking? Well, the two came together recently for this hilarious, yet very strange, interview on HBO’s new Last Week Tonight With John Oliver show. And I’m about as happy as a man can be that the show has its own YouTube channel!

  1. It doesn’t get better than Oliver and Stewart. I dearly hope that when he moves over to Late Night that he holds on to what makes him so special! I picture the network censors and pc police bearing down on him and I shudder! (But I will watch anyway!)

    • Thanks Val. John Oliver is hilarious, and I think Stephen Hawking’s willingness to play along with funny skits like this, and many others, makes him just about one of the coolest guys on the planet! 😀

  2. The Hawking interview, Izaak !! – he SMILES ! I didn’t know he could. It’s bloody wonderful that he smiles.
John Oliver is my new hero.

  3. I remember seeing John Oliver on the comedy panel show Mock The Week a few years back (and more recently thanks to repeats on Dave/YouTube). I vividly remember a prolonged discussion about the fighting prowess of owls that was most enlightening. Nice to see him doing so well for himself.
