I did. To be specific, I meant that any site carrying a banner like that is manipulating viewers to its own end.
Or pressing their libido button, I suppose …
For all I know it could be perfectly harmless; but I really don’t like that kind of manipulation – and I AM NOT a prude !
There’s certainly a lot of that “pressing their libido button,” but I assure you it’s harmless. Rincewind is one of my oldest blogging buddies and I wouldn’t link to his site if I felt otherwise. 🙂
I’m prepared without hesitation to believe you, Izaak; but I still have to question why he wants to give the impression of being some kind of soft porn site. Do you know ?
He’s not giving “the impression of soft porn” M-R, his site is soft porn (and more, like humor and such). I’ll admit that I wouldn’t be comfortable posting a lot of the stuff he posts here, but I do enjoy his blog and it gets a heck of a lot more traffic than mine does! 🙂
Very true, as the popularity of the “sexier” posts I’ve done proves. But because the main thrust of my posts are of a more “thoughtful” nature, I’ve ended up where most of my followers are women. Women I wouldn’t want to offend. It’s an ongoing struggle that Rincewind understands, and why he allows me to “guest post” on his blog whenever I want. 🙂
I’m on Facebook and Tumblr, one to stay in touch (sort of) with family and the other because it has such fascinating content. But I don’t really do much on them other than “like” and “share” things. Their formats are far too limited for when I have something to say. 😉
Yes, it’s nice. I’m not so sure about the manipulative site from which it comes, though.

But that’s because it’s soft porn. I don’t understand. If you switched to the same kind of content your numbers would skyrocket, too.

Then I guess I’d better not mention that Tumblr page, where I reblog stuff that would make even Rincewind blush! 😳
