I saw this video on PBS last month, not long after I published my 28 Years Ago Today… post in remembrance of the Challenger disaster. I meant to go searching for it to post but somehow managed to forget. 😳 I am so grateful to George Takei for bringing it back to my attention by posting the Upworthy.com link containing it on his Facebook page! 😀
Oh myyy, I even get an unexpected cameo in this. An inspiring story, with an ending that brought a little tear to my eye. Definitely worth a listen.
Ronald McNair grew up in Lake City, S.C. He grew up to become an astronaut. He was on the Challenger mission, which tragically exploded seconds after takeoff on Jan. 28, 1986. This is the actually funny story of how he started his journey in a time of great racial strife, as told by his brother to StoryCorps. And despite the tragedy, there’s a little bit of a happy ending.
I want ice water.

I saw this the other day, loved it.
