Sunday Reflections…

I saw this on the live broadcast of Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN this morning, and was a little taken aback by my poor performance on the full quiz. I’m reblogging it here because I’d like to know how you feel about your results…

How much do you know about the world?

The following three questions all come from the Gapminder Foundation, started by Swedish Professor Hans Rosling. He runs a series of “ignorance tests.” Essentially, his point is that people understand the world by “generalizing personal experiences.” And so they often miss major trends.

Try the three questions below or follow the link below for the full quiz.

What is the average life expectancy in the world today?

A) 70 years

B) 60 years

or C) 50 years

What percentage of adults in the world today are literate?

A) 80%

B) 60%

C) 40%

What percentage of the world’s one-year old children are vaccinated against measles?

A) 20%

B) 50%

C) 80%

For more questions, take the full quiz at CNN here. (And for those wondering, the answers to the first three questions are A, A and C).

That quiz, I think, also fits quite well with these items I found last night an Deison’s Blog on Tumblr…

I want ice water.
