Temporal Distortion

My original intent was to post this video yesterday (Sunday) but, as you may have guessed from my lack of response to your comments, my “recovery” wasn’t as far along as I’d thought it was on Saturday. I am feeling much better today, and I will be getting to those comments ASAP.

Anyway, in addition to the “I’m No Superman” song looping around in my head when I was sick, there was something else going on with me that’s part of a much larger recurring theme that’s been with me for a long as I can remember: the way my mind always manages to conjure up these wild “outer space” related dreams when I’m really, really sick.

I’m sure a psychologist would have a good old time explaining how these dreams are simply my delirious mind drawing on my lifelong fascination with space travel in an effort to provide some “context” to the crazy “out of my control” way my body is feeling. I’m just as sure that his assessment would be right as well, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that it “feels” for all the world like the cosmos is somehow “calling me home.”

Now I’m sure there are lots of videos out there depicting “superstitious” interpretations of how I feel at these times, but I prefer to fall back on a more “down to earth” representation: another awesome timelapse video featuring incredible night skies viewed from majestic natural landscapes…

What you see is real, but you can’t see it this way with the naked eye. It is the result of 20-30 second exposures edited together over many hours to produce the timelapse. This allows you to see the Milky Way, Aurora and other Phenonmena in a way you wouldn’t normally see them…

Featuring an original score by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead, Eureka, etc) Bear wrote about composing Temporal Distortion here. Thanks to Bear for taking the time to do this!

    • Happy New Year PT! The dream I remember most from this time was kind of a sad/funny variation on The Jetsons, where I was in a big transparent space ship orbiting the Earth while we “dropped off” pairs of my relatives and friends before leaving to wherever. When I was in the hospital in a coma, I actually traveled beyond the solar system, on a very long trip, visiting many other worlds along the way. I actually hated waking up from that! 😀
