Well, for today at least. I’m feeling downright giddy in fact. Woohoo! But please, hold your applause and/or jeers while I explain…
After all, I nearly called this post “Bah, Humbug!”
First of all, it would be an enormous understatement to say “I was less than satisfied” with my attempt, in yesterday’s “Black” Musings… post, to symbollically express my thoughts about what “the holiday season” has come to represent to me. I was so dissatisfied, in fact, that I spent the whole night struggling, in vain as it turned out, to come up with something better to post as a follow up.
But things are looking much brighter today, if in an entirely “out of the blue” sort of way. Wow, that sorta rhymes even! 🙄
First, I expressed myself much better I think, in a comment of all places (where I’m rarely at my best), on Pied Type’s Black Friday discounting illegal in Oklahoma post:
And then there’s this video from yet another Metousiosis post, William S. Burroughs – A Thanksgiving Prayer, which expresses my feelings better than anything I’ve ever said or written myself:
And lastly, but not least, and on a much lighter (if somewhat unrelated) note, my Ohio State Buckeyes beat their arch rivals from “up north,” the Michigan Wolverines, by a score of 26-21 today to end their 2012 NCAA Football campaign undefeated for the first time since 2002! They won the 2003 BCS National Championship in the Fiesta Bowl after that season.
As one of only two remaining undefeated teams, the other being the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the Buckeyes would almost certainly be headed for another chance at that ultimate prize – were it not for last years NCAA rules violations that left them ineligible for postseason play. Frankly, I’m not at all sure the Buckeyes could beat the Fighting Irish, but, then again, no one, least of all me, expected them to do what they’ve done this year.
The Buckeyes totally deserve all the congratulations they’re getting right now! 😀
And for my heartbroken Michigan-fan friends 😥 (but mostly because I just can’t resist posting a great animated Gif), here’s a “replay” of the Wolverines biggest play of the game:

The game might have an a different outcome if Denard Robinson had been 100%! 😯
Gotta go now, “Rivalry Week” waits for no man (or woman)!
I want ice water.
