Hit & Run

I hope you all got a chance to see the awesome season finale of Criminal Minds. If you didn’t, you really missed a good one. But guess what? You can watch the entire thing at Criminal Minds Video – Hit & Run!

To be honest, I actually hadn’t intended to write about the show. After all, the finales for all of my favorite shows have been playing – every one just as dramatic – and attempting to cover all of them is just more than I’m up to taking on. But the beautiful song from the end of Hit & Run just keeps playing over and over in my head, and that is what I really wanted to post. And let me tell you, that took a little doing.

Before the song though, here’s a bit from the official Composer’s Recap of the show, followed by the trailer:

“In this heart wrenching two- hour season finale, season 7 concludes with a federal bank under attack and hostages being taken, including a BAU team member. Meanwhile, Emily Prentiss says goodbye.

This episode centers around a ticking clock as a bank robbery quickly becomes a hostage situation and the BAU are called in immediately. For the central theme of this episode, we composed a rhythmic pulse that continually builds as the situation becomes more immediate and stressful for all parties involved. The heart pounding theme resonates with distorted drums, basses and guitars. As the situation becomes more stressful, the pulse’s tempo continually changes, becoming faster and faster as different situations occur. …”

And now that wonderful song from the ending:

Lily Kershaw – “As It Seems”

Well I know
What I didn’t want to know
And I saw
Where I didn’t want to go
So I took the path less traveled on
And I let my stories be whispered when I’m gone
When I’m gone
When I’m gone
When I’m gone
Well in this life you must find something to live for
Cause when the darkness comes a calling
You go back to where you were before
Cause this life is as fragile as dream and
Nothing’s ever really… as it seems
As it seems
As it seems
As it seems
Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive
With the way that he looked at me made me feel alive
And now I know nothing at all but the release that comes when you in me fall
In me fall
In me fall
In me fall
Cause in this life you must find something to live for
Cause when the darkness comes a calling
You go back to where you were before
Cause this life is as fragile as dream and
Nothing’s ever really… as it seems
As it seems
As it seems
As it seems

    • The Emily Prentiss character has been surrounded in mystery ever since they added her to the show, leaving me expecting her to get killed at any time. I have a sneaking feeling that we haven’t seen the last of her. The song must have been held just for the show, because the video and lyrics I included were all I could find – anywhere! But I see that 2 new videos have been added since then (but no new lyrics):

The Bones finale left me stunned for the rest of the night, so much so that I STILL haven’t watched the episode of House that followed it. I’m looking forward to The Mentalist finale as well, but don’t forget that the Person Of Interest finale is on before that! 😀

  3. Thanks for the update on the music. I watched the show, but when I’m really engrossed in a show I don’t always notice the music. Seems like everything is ending this week or next. Is it just my imagination, or have there been a lot of explosions in these finales? Everybody’s going out with a bang …

    • Good grief PT, those special effects people were really let loose this time! As a rule, I hate cliffhangers – no matter how mind blowing. But I always notice the music, and being able to repeat segments as many times as I need to catch enough lyrics for a search is one of the things that make DVRs so wonderful! 😀

        • I’ve always watched way too much TV, but I didn’t enjoy it nearly as much before being able to record my favorites. Trying to do it with a VCR was clumsy at best, but it’s a real dream with the DVR built into my cable box. Of course some might say that it has only “enabled” a very bad addiction, and I can’t argue with that. But at least the one I have can record only two shows at once. There are some that allow much more! 😯 😳

  5. Hi Izaak… excellent, double excellent show – especially after last week’s episode, which was a little more cerebral than usual (not that there’s anything wrong with that)…
is that how you got the lyrics using DVR? I searched the interwebz far and wide, high and low and couoldna find them, but I had to post the song. I’m like you. Usually the ending songs are the best part of many shows I like… I posted the song and a set of outtakes http://wp.me/p1yc93-lP many of which had me ROFLMAO!!! In fact, I spent most of the afternoon searching through Criminal Minds vids – some pretty cool stuff. MGG and Shemar are my favs, Shemar since his All My Children days!!!
thanks for being a FANatic like me!!!

    🙂

    • Hi Janet. I’m so glad you liked the show. I’m afraid my DVR wasn’t much help with the lyrics. I just did an exhaustive search and came up with the Yahoo link at the end of my lyrics scrollbox. I just did another search and that’s STILL the only source I come up with. Thank goodness for Yahoo Ginger!
I hate to pick favs but if I had to I’d go with MGG and Kirsten Vangsness. What can I say, I have a fondness for geeks! I’ve already started watching the bloopers vid you posted – hilarious!
      A FANatic Forever! 😀

    • Wow. It is nice to be loved! The response to this post has been overwhelming, to say the very least, and you’re all so very welcome!

Believe it or not, I didn’t know you could watch it online either until just before I posted this. That is so strange, considering how it had only been a few hours since it was broadcast. The link to the finale on their main page said “preview” when I first started putting this together, and it still did when I clicked on it just to see if their preview was better than the one I was about to post! 😀

        🙂
Now I do not have to quit my job and become a criminal in order to get arrested so that I have food, housing and Criminal Minds.
You have done a great thing.
        😉
