A Rant For The Ages?

I’ve run across a fair number of really good rants in my time, and I’d like to think that I’ve written a few good ones here and there myself, but this animated version of Tim Minchin’s “Storm” I found over on the Metousiosis blog has got to rank amongst the best of all time!

I want ice water.

  1. I don’t normally watch the videos you post. I generally don’t have the time, and I read about a thousand times faster than I can watch a video. But, today I watched this one, just to see what it was about. And I turned the volume on too.

It was pretty cool. I enjoyed it. But somehow I don’t think he convinced the hippy with the faerie tattoo that science is anything more than religion of another nature. Still, if he’s happy because he gave it a try, more power to you. I do think he’s in deep shit with his wife for even talking about the hippy’s perky tits.

I know people who believe in homeopathy. Hadn’t thought of using the “Poo” argument on them. It is funny how water forgets all the poo that was in it. What’s up with that?

    • As much as I love to (be able to) post them, I usually let out a groan when I find a video in a post – especially if it’s longer than 2 or 3 minutes. Let’s face it, you just can’t know if it’s worth the time unless you watch it. And with this one being more than 10 minutes long, I didn’t expect many would want to spend the time to find out. But I wanted it on my blog anyway, as it represents both the kind of public rant I’ve always dreamed of being able to pull off and the fact that you can’t change the opinions of people like “Storm” no matter how good you are!

He did kinda step in it with his wife, but I also thought he recovered very well at the end. As far as the “Poo” is concerned, I think most people would rather not know about the “nature” from which their food and drink comes, or about the science required to make their drinking water “safe!” 😀

  2. Do we really believe that Horton hears a Hoo? Poi-fect. Love it (even though I almost balked when I saw how long, admittedly). And he rhymed Oprah with Deepak Chopra–too fucking hilarious!

    • To be honest, I damned near didn’t watch it myself, but so many people were posting it that when I saw it on the Metousiosis blog I figured “what the hey!” If this is an example of what Tim Minchin does all the time, then I’d say he’s a certifiable genius worth keeping tabs on! 😀

  3. I’m a great admirer of Tim Minchin

Check out some of his other stuff on YouTube

This is his classic rant about pedophile priests

WARNING – don’t play it if you offended by swearing and definitely don’t play it at work or when kids are around !!!

P.S. the lyrics are posted underneath the clip on youtube
