As a college basketball fan, I’ve been peeking in on the various NCAA tournaments (Men’s and Women’s) that have been going on over the past week. I’ve also been an Ohio resident since 1970 so, as you might imagine, I’m primarily a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. And like every other buckeye fan, I’m hoping that the Buckeye Men’s team will win the Big Ten Championship today – just like the Lady Bucks did!
But you see, I lived the first 12 years of my life in Charleston, West Virginia and, let me tell ya – mountain roots run deep! Okay, Charleston isn’t actually in the mountains, but I have seen my share of Hillbilly Hollows! Anyway… It felt pretty darned good to see the West Virginia Mountaineers grab their first Big East Men’s Basketball title in school history last night by beating the Georgetown Hoyas 60-58!
But what really got to me was the playing of John Denver’s “Country Roads” after the final buzzer. Now I loved just about every song the man did, but that song most definitely has special meaning for me! So naturally I went looking for a way to share it with you.
I want ice water.
