Remember that “Oh good grief!” I began yesterday’s post with? Well, if I had only known… After several very weird fits and starts, my entire neighborhood “went dark” for nearly six and a half hours starting just before 3pm. As usual, no explanation has been provided as to what was behind the outage. There were storms in the area at the time, but the power fluctuations began at least a half hour before they even got here. Argh! 
Needless to say, I was “a little bit flustered” by all of this, and was simply in no mood to respond to your comments when I was finally able to. Sorry about that! 
Anyway, I will try to get to them ASAP but, with even stronger storms in the area today, I wanted to “whip out” some mood soothing humor before another disaster strikes…
BTW, as if the power problems weren’t enough, I’m having “issues” once again relating to the most recent Adobe Flash and Mozilla Firefox updates. However, unlike the “your Flash plugin has stopped working” and “Firefox has stopped responding” messages I was having the last time I got updates to both in close proximity, I’m now getting videos freeze-ups with “A script has stopped working” messages along with the “Firefox has stopped responding” message. Unfortunately, unlike the last time, rolling back to the last “known working” version of Flash only makes matters worse! 
And to top it all off, I keep getting “Install Failure” notices when I try to apply the Microsoft Fix It program that’s supposed to turn off the Windows 7 “Desktop Gadgets” feature because of Vulnerabilities in Gadgets Could Allow Remote Code Execution!
Please, kill me now! 
I think it’s time to breathe some more into that paper bag I keep handy…

Sorry you’re still having issues with the flash. I keep getting prompted to upgrade to the 11.3 (11.03? – whichever) and no way, Jose… so far I’m still playing vids just fine. Although on my laptop at work, firefox isn’t being so cooperative. But I haven’t looked into it since that’s my work computer.
Thank YOU Michelle! And I’m so glad you reminded me that it was you who posted about the Flash/Firefox problems. Guess I’m getting a little “addled” in my old age! Something else that hadn’t occurred to me was that I’d also gone for days (weeks?) with almost no PC freeze-ups before the updates and the “Fix It” failure. And now it’s done it 3 times just today!
Have you updated to Firefox v14.0.1 yet? I’m wondering if that’s why rolling back the Flash update didn’t work for me. Hell, I’m not even sure I know how to roll back a Firefox update!
I’m using Firefox 13.0.1. I usually try not to upgrade right away simply because of incompatibility issues – I prefer to wait until at least some are fixed.
I didn’t “intend” to upgrade either. I just clicked “Check for updates” on the About screen and the damned thing did it without asking! I did a help search and managed to snag a copy of v13.0.1 so I can “downgrade” both Firefox and Flash later tonight…
Yeah, Firefox will do that to ya. I’ve had it upgrade, too, and didn’t want it too. Good glad you snagged some previous versions. I figured they’d have to be out there somewhere – just not on the Mozilla site.
You know, I just thought of something else. I always set my installation to do updates only when I tell it to. I also have it set to warn me when I attempt to exit when multiple tabs are open. Neither of those functions are working properly, and I don’t think that began with this latest update either!
Hmmmm… interesting.
Yeah, I’m thinking that they’ve gotten so caught in with plugging security leaks that they’ve forgotten that the programs are still actually supposed to work too!

Thank you so much Ladyblue! I can’t help but wonder how many others are out there scratching their heads over these things. Rather than banging my head against the wall though, my approach to dealing with them has always been to apply “joke em if they can’t take a f**k” rule!

I “downgraded” to earlier versions of Firefox and Flash this morning, and my system is working much better now…
