Women Who Kick Ass!

I don’t know if it’s some kind of unconscious seeking of a mythological super-mom, or just a strong desire to see women finally stand and fight back against all the abuse that’s been dumped on them through the ages, but I have this absolute fascination with depictions of strong women – especially when they’re kicking some serious ass!

The most recent shining example of this came near the end of last Thursday’s episode of ABC’s FlashForward, in the character of FBI agent Janis Hawk (Christine Woods). Not only did this episode reveal her to be a lesbian looking for love (and who among us are not fascinated with that rejection of male dominance?) in spite of the fact that the “vision” she saw in her “flash forward” was of her being several months pregnant (more male ego tugging), but also included one of the most incredible female-on-male ass kicking scenes I’ve witnessed when two would be assassins tried to take her down. Hell she even took down the second assailant from the ground with some brilliant gun play after he shot her in the back! My kind of woman indeed!

Sadly, although a video search produced several good Youtube clips from this episode, none of them were available for embedding. If you click on the image below, however, you’ll open Youtube in a new window with the fight scene video. You can then choose others to view to your greedy little heart’s content.

As I’m not into doing “review” type posts, I recommend this one from MTV Movies Blog: ‘FlashForward’ Episode 1.05: ‘Gimme Some Truth’ for those who want more.

I’ve written before about how shy I am around women that I’m attracted to. I’ve also written about how I think that this is at least in part due to my fear of being seen as just another male on the make. My guess is that this is somewhat common amongst us “nerdy” types, but my problem is compounded by the fact that, other than wearing glasses, I don’t fit the physical profile of your stereotypical nerd. As for what I’d do if I’d actually found the woman of my dreams…

Anyway… Here are some more images of heroic female figures, along with a nice musical selection to enhance your browsing pleasure:

Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron)

Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv)

Arwen (Liv Tyler)

Catwoman (Halle Berry)

Elektra (Jennifer Garner)

Elixabeth Swan (Keira Knightley)

Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver)

Kahlan Amnell (Bridget Regan)

Mystique (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos)

Phoenix - Jean Grey (Famke Janssen)

Sarah Conner (Linda Hamilton and Lena Headey)

Storm - Ororo Monroe (Halle Berry)

Trinity (Carrie Ann-Moss)

Ultraviolet (Milla Jovovich)

And finally, what collection of imaginary ass kicking women would be complete without the ultimate techno-geek superwoman:

Cameron (Summer Glau)

Did I miss anyone?

I want ice water.

Maybe it is sooo appealing because in the back of your mind, it is sooo not
possible. But boy if it were…………all males would want their ass kicked by these beautiful, well built, young, 110-120 # females in great sexy outfits, and for it to be taped, so they could watch it over and over and over. :-)

    Am I right??

Well my choice of music shows that you’re at least partially right. And I do have ALL SORTS of fantasies I’d like to play out with women such as these. But they’re all nice fantasies. I promise. ;-)

On the serious side, there certainly are a lot of men who deserve to get their asses kicked! And I’d certainly love to watch it over and over and over…

oh this is fabulous. obviously missing you know who, however these are some kick ass ladies for sure! Aeon Flux is great, my boyfriend absolutely ADORES her… We just watched the movie the other day :) Charlize could do any character justice if you ask me. She’s phenomenal. Awesome post
    :)

Thanks! My original list actually did include Jolie as Croft and quite a few others, but uploading images is so tedious with my old hunk-o-junk that I have to whittle the list down to a more manageable size. This post gets a lot of hits, so maybe I’ll do another of these when I get a better PC. You can bet that “you know who” will be right there in the mix! :-)

My daughter kicks ass. She’s my hero, for a million and one reasons. Plus, she looks like Anna Torv, only much smaller.
